Job Description
As a Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant and System Operator at
ForseMark,
you will play a crucial role in operating and maintaining equipment
used to
treat water and wastewater. This position involves ensuring the
proper functioning of
treatment systems to meet regulatory standards and protect the environment.

Typical Duties
- Operate and monitor water and wastewater treatment processes, including
pumps, filters, clarifiers, and chemical treatment systems.
- Adjust treatment processes and equipment settings to maintain optimal
treatment efficiency and quality.
- Conduct regular inspections of treatment plant equipment, pipes, and
tanks to detect leaks, malfunctions, or abnormalities.
- Collect samples of water or wastewater for laboratory analysis to
monitor treatment effectiveness.
- Perform tests, measurements, and chemical analyses to assess water
quality parameters and adjust treatment accordingly.
- Add chemicals, such as chlorine or alum, to disinfect, flocculate,
or precipitate contaminants in water or wastewater.
- Control and regulate flow rates, pressure levels, and treatment parameters
to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, electrical issues, or process
problems to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of treatment processes, equipment readings,
chemical usage, and maintenance activities.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks, such as lubricating pumps, replacing
filters, and cleaning tanks.
- Follow safety protocols, procedures, and guidelines to prevent accidents,
spills, or environmental hazards.
- Respond to alarms, alerts, or emergency situations promptly and implement
corrective actions.
- Collaborate with environmental agencies, inspectors, and auditors
to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Participate in training sessions, workshops, or certifications to
enhance skills and knowledge in water treatment.
- Coordinate with other operators, technicians, or engineers to optimize
treatment plant operations.
- Monitor and adjust automated control systems, SCADA systems, and data
logging systems.
Experience and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a water treatment
certification program or relevant training.
- Proven experience as a water or wastewater treatment plant operator
in an industrial or municipal setting.
- Knowledge of water treatment processes, equipment, and chemical treatment
methods.
- Understanding of environmental regulations, safety standards, and
permit requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and specifications
for treatment equipment.
- Proficiency in performing laboratory tests, chemical analyses, and
water quality assessments.
- Strong mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot equipment issues and perform
routine maintenance.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to work in outdoor and indoor environments,
including confined spaces.
- Effective communication skills to convey technical information, collaborate
with team members, and interact with regulatory agencies.
