Job Description
Furnace, Kiln, Oven, Drier Operators and Tenders at ForseMark are
integral members of the team responsible for operating and monitoring
equipment used to process materials at high temperatures. They play
a crucial role in ensuring the proper functioning of furnaces, kilns,
ovens, and dryers to achieve desired material properties and production
outcomes.

Typical Duties
- Set up and prepare furnaces, kilns, ovens, or dryers according to
production schedules and specifications.
- Load materials into the equipment using forklifts, conveyor belts,
or manually as required.
- Monitor temperature, pressure, and other operating parameters to ensure
optimal processing conditions.
- Adjust controls, timers, and settings to maintain proper heat levels
and processing times.
- Operate equipment to heat, dry, bake, or cure materials such as metals,
ceramics, plastics, or composites.
- Monitor gauges, meters, and sensors to track process variables and
detect abnormalities.
- Perform quality checks on processed materials, including visual inspections
and measurements.
- Sample materials for testing and analysis to verify conformance to
specifications.
- Remove finished products from equipment and unload them safely for
further processing or storage.
- Inspect equipment for signs of wear, damage, or malfunctions, and
report issues for maintenance.
- Clean and maintain furnaces, kilns, ovens, or dryers to ensure proper
operation and safety.
- Record production data, process parameters, and quality control measurements
accurately.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure
a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with production supervisors, technicians, and quality
control personnel to optimize processes and resolve issues.
- Duties may vary based on the types of materials, equipment, and production
processes within the company.
Experience and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification
in furnace operation or related field preferred.
- Previous experience as a Furnace, Kiln, Oven, or Dryer Operator or
similar role in a manufacturing setting.
- Knowledge of furnace operation principles, heat treatment processes,
and material properties.
- Familiarity with different types of furnaces, kilns, ovens, or dryers
and their functions.
- Ability to interpret process instructions, work orders, and technical
specifications.
- Proficiency in adjusting controls, timers, and settings to achieve
desired processing outcomes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in monitoring process variables
and conducting quality checks.
- Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and
performing basic maintenance.
- Physical stamina for lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
during equipment operation.
- Effective communication skills to convey information, report issues,
and collaborate with team members.
- Problem-solving skills to identify process deviations, root causes,
and corrective actions.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in production
processes.
