First-Line Supervisors of Production and Operating Workers

Job Description As a First-Line Supervisor of Transportation and Material Moving Workers at ForseMark, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of our transportation team. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the efficient and safe transportation of materials and products to and from our facilities.

Typical Duties

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of transportation and material moving workers, including drivers, loaders, and warehouse staff.
  
• Plan and organize daily transportation schedules to meet production and delivery requirements.
  
• Assign tasks and responsibilities to transportation team members, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  
• Monitor the loading and unloading of materials, ensuring proper handling and securement.
  
• Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to maintain inventory accuracy and availability.
  
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies in all transportation activities.
  
• Conduct regular inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure proper maintenance and functionality.
  
• Address any issues or concerns related to transportation operations, implementing solutions as needed.
  
• Train and onboard new transportation team members, providing guidance on procedures and safety protocols.
  
• Collaborate with procurement and production teams to optimize supply chain efficiency.
  
• Communicate with customers and suppliers to coordinate deliveries, resolve issues, and provide updates.
  
• Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including mileage, fuel usage, and delivery times.
  
• Implement and enforce best practices for transportation operations to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  

Experience and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
  
• Proven experience in transportation operations, preferably in a supervisory or leadership role.
  
• Knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  
• Familiarity with logistics software and systems for routing, scheduling, and tracking shipments.
  
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective coordination with internal teams and external partners.
  
• Detail-oriented approach with a focus on accuracy in record-keeping and documentation.
  
• Problem-solving abilities to address transportation challenges and optimize routes.
  
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  
• Forklift certification or other relevant certifications a plus.
